Peter Loren Civardi

Brief Biographical Summary

Peter was born and raised in the suburbs of New York City on Long Island.  He attended public high school, earning numerous athletic and academic honors, including National Honor, New York State Regents, and Naval ROTC Scholarships.  He earned a degree in economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and then taught public school for one year after graduation.  Following relocation to La Jolla, California, Peter began broker training for a major New York Stock Exchange member firm.  He subsequently attained licenses to trade on the NYSE, American Stock Exchange, and Chicago Board of Trade.  During this period, he also earned postgraduate certificates in finance and commodity trading.

 In 1973, after two years as a broker, he left stocks, bonds, and pork bellies for the fascinating world of executive recruiting.  After a brief introduction to the business with a large national firm at age 25, Peter launched his own specialty outfit, Military Recruiters of San Diego, where he enjoyed 25 successful and rewarding years recruiting America’s finest young men and women military officers for elite management training programs with Fortune 500 companies.  AT&T, Procter & Gamble, Baxter Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, Exxon/Mobil Corporation, and numerous other highly respected multinational firms benefited from Peter’s ability to seek out, identify, and recruit young men and women of great promise.  During these years he attended several in-house sales and recruitment training programs offered by client companies.  Eventually, he wrote and taught courses for managers on behavioral (competency) based selection.  Over the last 25 years, he has lectured at San Diego State University, The University of San Diego, and National University on topics relating to interviewing, selecting developmental managers, and the pursuit of corporate careers.

 In 1998, Peter left the specialty of junior military officer/elite management development recruiting, and moved to the larger landscape of retained executive search.  His client list includes many long-term business friends and contacts many of whom are former junior officer candidates now enjoying positions of power and influence.
